The Distributor of the Week is an ongoing feature that we are proud to present weekly.
Check back every Friday as we highlight another amazing team member.

Name: Jenny Bye
Location: Nanaimo, British Columbia
Start Date: April 11, 2015

SL: Tell us why you decided to sell SweetLegs! (We are super delighted to have you on the team!)

JB: I never thought that a home based business would be in the cards for me. I had yet to find a product or company that I ever felt overly passionate about, until one day I received a pair of gorgeous leggings from my sister-in-law. One pair turned into four pairs very quickly, and then I became obsessed with watching for brand new patterns and checking out all of the great posts on the SweetLegs Facebook page. It was there that I saw a post looking for new Independent Distributors. My heart raced and I knew that this was exactly what I was looking for! Within a week I had signed my contract, placed my first order, and sold my first THREE pairs!! I feel like I am still riding that high!

SL: How has SweetLegs impacted your life?

JB:  My journey as a SweetLegs ID has brought so much variety into my life, in so many ways! The new friendships and connections that I have made with other local women and entrepreneurs has helped me to become a much more outgoing person, and the feeling of community that I now have with my adopted city has been amazing. We also added a new child to our family, and being able to bring my baby to work with me was so beneficial. My relationships with all of the other SweetLegs Distributors across the country has been the biggest blessing. I feel like I can turn to my SweetSisters with anything – good or bad!

SL: Tell us something exiting about yourself that others may not know!

JB: In October my fiance and I are FINALLY going to tie the knot! After a mere 6.5 years engaged we figured it was time. At this point I am not sure what I am more excited for: changing my last name, or deciding which SweetLegs to wear to my bachelorette party!

SL: What’s your secret skill?

JB: My secret skill, though not exactly useful in many life situations, is my ability to memorize movie dialogue almost immediately. I once wrote out the entire script of The Princess Bride from memory. For no reason whatsoever! #crushedit

SLWhat is your most memorable customer interaction?

JB: Hands down, my most memorable customer moment happened last year at the Nanaimo Bathtub Days Street Fair. I had two sisters each interested in a pair of Vintage Lace to wear for a cruise that they were going on later that month. They were thrilled when I told them I had two left in their size (Petite). The eldest sister insisted on paying for both and they explained that they planned on wearing them at the same time during their more casual dining nights on the boat. Once they were all ready, bags in hand, they giggled and said “We must be the oldest customers you’ve had!” They were 96 and 98! Proof that SweetLegs really are for everyone!!

SL: Share an amazing SweetLegs story with us!

JB: I met a woman at a party just over a year ago and she was very unsure about leggings. She attended the party to support her friend and checked out my display a few times but seemed distant. Finally, with the help of the hostess and a few other friends we got her to try a pair on. Well, as most of us can guess, she was convinced! Fast forward to today, she still tells people that she was always a “jeans girl” and never thought she could wear leggings until she tried SweetLegs. Not only is she a good customer and a great walking advertisement for my business, she has also become a good friend. I love how SweetLegs brings people together.

SL: How many donuts can you eat in one sitting?

JB: Honestly about 3, but if you give me a Costco sized bag of Chicago Mix popcorn, you better not expect to see it again!

SLHave you learned any lessons from running your own SweetLegs business? Any advice for future entrepreneurs?

JB: The biggest things I have learned in these past 2 years has is to stay organized as much as possible and stay on top of my paperwork and inventory – but also have fun. Don’t take yourself too seriously and make sure your customers feel comfortable around you. I like to think that my customers come back to see me because they can’t get enough of our incredible SweetLegs, but also because they feel like they have made a connection with me.
I have learned the hard way that if I see a new print I want, I should grab it right away, because I have missed out on a few favourites!

SL: What makes your life Sweet?

JB: My life is so much Sweeter since I was able to quit my “day job” and stay home with my children. Watching them grow every day has made it all worth it. Being a part of this company has given me something that I have always wanted: the chance to be a stay at home mom AND wear the most fabulous leggings EVER!
